About Us

Established in January 2019 by a diverse group of SBIRT leaders, the SBIRT Advisory Council is associated with the Colorado Office of the Attorney General as a subcommittee for the Colorado Substance Abuse Trend and Response Task Force. The SATF is chaired by the Colorado Attorney General and operates through the Office of Community Engagement. As a committee, the SBIRT Advisory Council provides quarterly updates to the SATF on topics associated with policies and practices related to the prevention and early intervention of substance use statewide.

The SBIRT Advisory Council holds quarterly meetings during which members discuss topics relevant to substance use prevention and early intervention issues, such as presentations from subject matter experts on data trends associated with substance use and overdose, as well as sharing funding opportunities and resources, and updates regarding statewide SBIRT training and technical assistance work. Presentation topics have included: new research in substance use prevention, statewide and local data collection efforts and results, SBIRT program updates, legislative updates, and SBIRT Advisory Council workgroup updates.
